THE DIVINE MERCY BUS

The Friends of Divine Mercy Scotland Team, introduced the 'Divine Mercy Bus' initiative in 2017 after being inspired by the words of Pope Francis:  “Go out to the people and take the Church to them”. We decided to do just that, with a church on wheels!  We  bring the Catholic faith to the towns of Paisley, Coatbridge, Greenock, Barrhead and Glasgow. The double deck bus tickets are free for entry, opening our sliding doors to the people of God for Confession, for those who want to know more about the Catholic faith, or just simply for those who want to have a chat. We make sure that we are well stocked with prayer accessories, snacks , a joyful smile; and on occasions a hug for those who need one!

More Information

Ten years ago a small group of prayerful Scottish Friends began meeting for prayer, under the mantle known as the Divine Mercy Devotion. We would meet in each-others houses, pray together, eat together laugh together and sometimes cry together. At the time we had no idea about what God was planning beyond our seemingly simple, but inspirational prayer meetings.

Our prayers and initiatives were beginning to have a huge impact around us, we were witnessing how our small acts of kindness combined with our Divine Mercy devotional prayer were literally transforming our lives and the lives of others. Bishop John Keenan (Paisley Diocese) has supported the mission from its beginnings, and has enabled it flourish and grow to become what it is today - Friends of Divine Mercy Scotland.

Message from the Bishop

“This is a fantastic initiative and a wonderful example of evangelisation, which takes the church out into the world. I wish the venture every success and hope it will be the first of many similar initiatives which offer people a route back to a relationship with God.”

Bishop John Keenan
